Why bully? And how can schools stop it?

I honestly don't know if there is one specific reason for their actions or not. Many people say it is because they feel the need to make themselves feel powerful. Or that it is the only way they can take out their anger that they have because of their own problems in their own life. Whatever the reason may be, I still do not think it is acceptable. People that bully do not get an award for the best bully. They won't get famous from it. Or become a millionaire from it. It may make them feel a little better temporarily, but that will ware off. And eventually they will realize the mistakes they made and feel remorse for their actions. If they really have that many problems then they need to reach out.

Both the bullier and the bullied need help. Many people say "Reach out to a parent or teacher." but do they really understand how hard it is for teenagers to talk to their parents or teachers? Even if someone has very understanding parents, it can be hard to talk to them. And unless you somehow run into that one great teacher, there is no way a kid is going to tell them all about their problems.

CASD seems to frown upon close relationships between students and teachers. The elementary school I went to was like a family. You could trust all the teachers, and they were very involved and loved what they were doing. U.L. Gordy (my elementary school) got shut down because of how small it was. Now it is practically impossible to find a teacher in CASD that actually cares about your life and wants to help you. Let alone one that likes their job as a teacher and wants you to succeed in life. Yea there are a handful of teachers that are nice and enjoy their jobs. I have been lucky enough to meet some of them. But the majority of CASD teachers I have had from 6th grade and up are just not fit for their job. Many act as if they cannot stand their jobs. Others really don't care how you do in their class. There are many that make you feel dumb and insignificant. There is no way that a kid will turn to one of these teachers when they are having a problem. And if you do they will most likely stick you into the school councilor's office with anyone else that may be involved in your problems. Then you just feel embarrassed and it might just end up making matters worse.

I think schools need to work on the relationships between students and teachers. The relationships I built with the teachers I had in elementary school were lasting ones. I continue to keep in touch with them and they are still extremely helpful. They will forever be a big part in my life. I believe that if there were better teachers throughout CASD, and the country, that bullying would start to dwindle. Atleast in schools that is...

Change of Plans

When I first started this blog it was out of boredom, and was to be about art. But recently I got the inspiration (from my mom) to make this about bullies and their bullying. I personally have not been bullied much, but I have witnessed it way too many times. I use to go to Chambersburg Area School District (CASD). I went there up until 10th grade. Although my reasons for leaving were health issues and not bully issues, I know that at CASD bullying is a huge issue. And even now I see it continue.

I saw the bullying constantly when I was in school. And now that I'm not I still see it through online places like Facebook, YouTube, and many other sites. I am on the computer a lot because I now do cyber school. The computer has given me even more windows to witness this horrible thing. I don't think I will ever understand why people bully, and how they get away with it. I hope to bring maybe just an ounce of light to this problem. And maybe someone will do something about it. I really don't know what will come of this blog. But I do hope it helps in some way. I will post many things I personally have witnessed, and things others I know have witnessed. I want bullying to stop. I'm outraged to see it continue and hurt so many people.

Another thing is that I hope to inform people about the facts of bullying. Ways to help someone you know who is being bullied. Ways to stop it. Ways to report it. Inform you about people that will actually help you or someone else you know. I am willing to help in as many ways I can. If I can help even just one person I will be greatful.

I hope this is a successful journey. Nice to meet you all! Thank you!

The Arts

The Arts, in my opinion, is a wonderful topic. It is a very broad topic that I love. My hope is to open people's minds to more than what they already know about art. I want talk about art that is specific to certain cultures. Also about different artists that I find interesting. And about everything about ART! I am very new to this and I'm not a very good writer, but I will do my best to bring out different knowledge about art and to hopefully introduce some amazing artists you may have not heard of. I will also discuss certain topics like 'Sewing' for example and will hopefully bring out facts and opinions about the art. I also hope to learn more about art for myself too. I want to discover new things about art and other artists. Hopefully this will prompt those discoveries for all of us.

I want to say a few things about myself too. My name is Shea and am heading towards the best parts of my life. I have a great love for everything art. Music and dance are something I like to take part in just about every day. Drawing is one of my favorite things to do. I hatch ideas from music for a new drawing or painting all the time. I'm a very opinionated person, but I am going to do my best to not let my opinions take over my posts. Eventually I hope to move to Boston, MA. and to attend an art college there. Boston is one of my favorite cities (so far). I love all animals and have 4 myself. Animals, Music, Nature, People, Cities, Traditions, Movies, and all sorts of other things inspire me. My mom is a great drawer who did not get to chase her dreams and did not have any help. I hope that I will be able to chase mine with her help. She has helped me with many things and I am so thankful. I look up to her because she is a strong woman. And I hope to learn from both my own and my mom's mistakes to get farther in life and to have more opportunities. I owe many things to her. Thanks mom!

I can't wait for this to continue! I hope I can keep up with this and gain followers! Nice to meet you!
